Are nootropics legal in Ireland?
"Nootropic" is not a legal category. A product sold under that name is either a food supplement, governed by food law, or a medicine, governed by pharmaceutical law. In Ireland, LUCID is a food supplement.
Food supplements are governed by the European Communities (Food Supplements) Regulations 2007 (S.I. No. 506 of 2007), which implement Directive 2002/46/EC, and supervised by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI).
Food supplements sold in Ireland must be notified to the FSAI through its online notification form. According to the FSAI, the duty falls on the manufacturer if the product is made in Ireland and on the importer if it is imported into Ireland; a retailer should ask its supplier for the notification number.
- LUCID: notification pending.
- Citicoline: authorised as a novel food by Implementing Decision 2014/423/EU, in food supplements up to 500 mg per day and not intended for children. LUCID contains 350 mg per serving.
- Caffeine: Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 requires the statement "Contains caffeine. Not recommended for children or pregnant or breast-feeding women", with the mg content per daily portion — 70 mg for LUCID.
- Claims: Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 prohibits any unauthorised health claim. That is why this page promises no effect.
Delivery in Ireland
LUCID ships from Belgium to anywhere in Ireland, free of charge, with no minimum order. A standard order is prepared within 24 hours (Monday to Friday) and delivered in 2 to 4 business days, tracked, by bpost, DPD or an equivalent premium carrier.
The First Edition is on pre-order: the first boxes leave from mid-December 2026, and your tracking link arrives by email as soon as your box is on its way. With the subscription (The Commitment), a new box ships automatically every 28 days, timed to arrive before your last capsule.
Price and payment methods
The price is the same in all six countries we serve (Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Ireland) and is shown in euros: €100 per box as the Single Edition, i.e. €5.00 per serving, or €80 every 4 weeks by subscription (The Commitment), i.e. €4.00 per serving. For the first 2,500 Signatories of the First Edition, that €80 price is locked for life, as long as the subscription stays active. You can pause, skip or cancel your subscription at any time, in one click from your account, at no cost.

Returns and right of withdrawal
- 14-day statutory right of withdrawal from receipt, without giving a reason (Article VI.47 of the Belgian Code of Economic Law).
- Exception: a box whose seal has been broken cannot be returned, for reasons of hygiene and health protection (Article VI.53).
- Damaged parcel: tell us within 48 hours; replacement or refund, your choice.
